(Times vary from approx. 2-6 hours including meal preparation and dining)

The Bo-Kaap is famed for its quaint colourful houses. Bishop Tutu’s Rainbow Nation originated in this historical neighbourhood, that has a cultural diversity that ranges from Southeast Asia to Northwest Africa and Europe. The best way to experience the Bo-Kaap is to taste Malay food. It is a culinary experience that will change the way you think of food forever.

On the tour, we walk through the Bo-Kaap including a visit to one or two local shops (subject to opening times) and then we invited to participate in preparing, cooking and eating in a local Cape Malay family kitchen. Our host chef will teach us to roll rotis, frying chilli bites, cooking curry and wrapping samoosas. Suitable for vegetarians and vegans. Learning to cook together is a fun way to bond with friends whilst experiencing something new on this cultural culinary experience. The cooking class always ends with an intimate lunch or dinner in the home of local home. A typical class last 2,5hrs including the meal and includes desert and tea.

Participating in cooking classes together as a group of colleagues, friends and family offers range of benefits, including improved communication, enhanced culinary skills, nutritional education, cultural awareness, and quality time spent together.

We look forward to sharing the tastes and sights of the colourful Bo Kaap with you. We can offer the tours in English, Dutch, and  French request.  Subject to availability at time of booking.
