All AWOL Hiking tours are PRIVATE and thus routes can be tailor-made to your hiking experience and preferences. The most popular route is the climb up Kasteelspoort, which zigzags its way up a partly shaded gorge beneath the overhanging walls of Spring Buttress. The shortest route is either Platteklip Gorge or for the more adventurous India Venster. For a more strenuous hike, we ascend up Skeleton Gorge from Kirstenbosch. A picnic lunch will be served during the hike. Please advise of your dietary preferences so we can cater accordingly. Eventually you arrive on the Table Mountain plateau for a pleasant walk and then proceed down Table Mountain in the aerial cableway. The all inclusive price includes collection of guests at hotels, transfers to the start of the hiking trail, bottled water, picnic lunch. The price includes single or return Table Mountain cableway ticket.


If the weather is unsafe (not just unpleasant) for hiking we advise the evening before and then either postpone or cancel with a full refund to guests who book directly with us.  The cableway operation status may also change due to strong winds and thus not be operational so there is a small chance you might have to walk up and down the mountain. Please wear good shoes with underfoot grip, and bring a hat, sunblock, warm top, rain/windproof jacket, small backpack and of course the camera! Be prepared to be out for approx. 4 – 6 hrs. 

Collection times may vary depending on the season. You can request a suitable departure time bearing in mind that our suggested departure times are 6 am in Dec & Jan to avoid the crowds and heat in peak season, 7 am in summer (1st Nov to 30th April ), or 8am (winter months from the 1st May to 31st Oct)
