Private guided tours depart on request typically at 7am in the morning or earlier in peak summer. Sunset bike rides are also possible departing at 6pm in the evening. We meet guests at hotel with bicycles and transfer to the start of the Mountian biking trails in Cape Town. Our experienced cycling guides will discuss the options and select route based on your fitness and technical ability as well as conditions on the day. It would be helpful if participants can indicate what preference experience and expectations are when making the reservation. alternatively guests are welcome to discuss routes on the day of the tour.

1. Table Mountain (Optional Signal Hill)

We start our 27km ride from the lower cable car station and follow the tar road past Table Mountain towards Devil’s Peak. Ride  up to the King’s Block House on winding gravel roads. This climb is well worth the effort as you have views of both Table Bay and False Bay. A technical, very steep downhill leads us to the singletrails at UCT/Rhodes Memorial. Then we tackle the undulating ride back up to Tafelberg Road. Alternatively, an option for extremely fit mountain bikers who have previous technical riding experience can opt to do a longer ride starting from the Waterfront with hectic climbs up Signal Hill and onto the trails along the lower slopes of Table Mountain to Rhodes Memorial. Ride up to the block house and down to Deer Park, then back to the Waterfront through the city. This route follows the Cape Epic Prologue route and is described as challenging due to the steep climbs and loose gravel roads. Expect to climb 600 to 100 meters in under 30km.

2.  Constantia Greenbelt & Kirstenbosch

For beginners we have the option of riding 10km to 35km through the Constantia Greenbelt for fairly flat  mountain biking with an option of ending at the Constantia Uitsig bike park (great for kids) or winetasting at the various  vineyards. For fit riders with previous mountain biking experience  we can add on an extra 12km scenic loop above Kirstenbosch and Cecilia Forest

3. Tokai and Silvermine Nature Reserve

Tokai Forest, the premier mountain biking destination in Cape Town is slowly recovering after lengthy closure due to fires. The trails are slowly being rebuild and single track minded cyclists can now ride 10-20km of flowing downhill trails. Combined with a tough climb we can include the 8km Off-road ride on jeep track into Silvermine. This short and sweet ride through varied
terrain is both exciting and challenging. Take in the 360-degree views of the Cape Flats, Noordhoek beach and False Bay while enjoying a picnic lunch amidst the chirps of orange-breasted sunbirds. Away from the cycling track, there are caves to explore and shady riverside forest to laze in. Enquire about this as part of a 70km Peninsula Loop biking combination.

4. Durbanville Hills Mountain Bike Trails

10 to 80km of manicured single track with 400 to 2000 meters of climbing is a treat for intermediate and experienced mountain bikers with a reasonable level of fitness. Starting from Hoogekraal you are in for a treat riding up the switchbacks to the top of Spykers Hill with the option of doing a technical rocky section down the cobra trail. We then continue onto Contermanskloof on a well-marked trail for 16km upto the highest point of 420 metres of climbing before descending on beautiful sweeping single track down the ‘super
tube’ and ‘cheeky corners’. Another climb takes you up through the Bushvines. For those that still have energy we have an option to continue through to Meerendal, a well-known end point to the Cape Epic with a climb up to Dorstberg or sweeping down through the AfroMontane Forests of Bloemendal and Majik Forest.
